Super Brawl Commercials

How do you attract eyeballs to a game’s first esports grand finals when they live-stream for a total of 5 hours over 2 days? Break it up like the Super Bowl does.

We created a series of parody ads for Brawler-inspired products, which ran as part of the Brawl Stars esports World Championship broadcasts.

World-building, lore & easter eggs

Tapping into the Brawl Stars community’s love of world-building, we played with familiar commercial break tropes, gave them a Brawl Stars spin, and crammed in as many easter eggs about lore and game updates as possible.

The fans loved it. They started organically suggesting ads of their own. When we produced some of their ideas and gave them credit as we broadcast them on the game’s official channels, they loved it even more.

We produced around 15 different ads, each with its own vibe and visual style. All the ads were produced by our talented, in-house team of illustrators and animators, with just a month to go from initial fan suggestion to final film.

Community-powered commercials

Here are the first 6 videos, rolled into one. Skip ahead to my favourite scripts:

  • (2:03) Max Energy drink – endorsed by the Brawler, Max, whose unbeatable speed in the arena surely comes from questionable substances.

  • (2:41) Spike Air (Jordans) – endorsed by the beloved Brawler, Spike, the only character in the game who conspicuously has zero voice lines.
